Nail Farm
Permanent Public Art Work at South East False Creek in Vancouver, BC. This project is based on the concept of a ‘Nail House’, a preexisting porperty that eschews real estate development due to the owner’s refusal to sell to make way for the new development. In this project, a large scale heavy timber, barn ruin pavilion serves as an urban agriculture plot for a new condo development. Depending on the typical use of the provided garden plots by the tenants, the site can at once act as a utopian symbol if overgrown with fresh plants or as a distopian symbol if it remains unused and lies fallow.
